      <image:title>About - About</image:title>
<image:caption>Dr. Linda Valeri is Associate Professor of Biostatistics (with tenure) and PhD Program Director at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, where she is also an Affiliate of the Columbia Data Science Institute, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Valeri’s research lies at the intersection of causal inference, biostatistics, epidemiology, and machine learning. She develops statistical methods for understanding complex causal mechanisms, evaluating health effects of environmental mixtures, analyzing mobile health and longitudinal data, and advancing precision public health. Her work spans causal mediation analysis, Bayesian machine learning, digital health, environmental epidemiology, aging and Alzheimer's disease, mental health, and health disparities. Dr. Valeri has made foundational contributions to causal mediation analysis and causal machine learning, developing widely used methods and open-source software for reproducible causal inference. Her work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health through multiple awards, including an NIA R01, an NIEHS R21, and a previous NIH Career Development Award. Her work has appeared in leading statistical, epidemiological, and medical journals. She received the 2026 COPSS Emerging Leaders Award, one of the highest international honors recognizing exceptional early-career contributions to statistics. She serves as Statistical Editor for JAMA Psychiatry, Associate Editor of the International Journal of Biostatistics, Data Science Section Editor of Current Environmental Health Reports, and holds leadership roles in ENAR and the American Statistical Association. Through her research, teaching, and mentorship, she works to advance responsible and reproducible causal learning for improving human health.</image:caption>
